44 Students of Assam Agriculture University Test Positive For COVID-19

COVID-19 has been detected in at least 44 students at Assam Agriculture University (AAU) in Jorhat. According to reports, the police have declared hotels 11 and 12 confinement zones as a result of this event.

Three students from Dibrugarh University have tested positive for the latest Covid-19 variant. The three infected students, who came all the way from South Africa, were found with the Omicron strain after a test was done using the unique kit recently created by ICMR-RMRC, Lahowal, according to an official of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The samples were sent to the North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) in Jorhat by the ICMR Dibrugarh for "Whole Genome Sequencing." It was sent to NEIST for final testing because the institute has NGS facilities for Next-Generation Sequencing.

According to a source, the afflicted students went to the International Affairs office after violating quarantine regulations. After receiving fellowships from the Indian Council for Cultural Affairs, the three students were accepted to the university.
