5 Diseases Which You Can Get Through Kissing

The act of kissing can range from a quick peck to a long, intimate smooch. People exchange a kiss on each cheek to greet each other. Kissing on the lips, though, is usually reserved for more intimate relationships. But kissing your spouse when they are ill or sick can be dangerous to your own health.

So, Here are some awareness related to kissing:

1. Mononucleosis - This disease, usually caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), spreads through saliva and is often referred to as “mono” or “the kissing disease.”

2. Gum Disease - Gingivitis and periodontitis are normally a slowly progressing, rather painless disease leading to bleeding from gums, loosening of teeth, bad odor and if left untreated eventual tooth loss.

3. Meningitis -  This disease can be spread from one person to another via respiratory secretions. Though there are no medications for viral meningitis, people with healthy immune systems usually get better on their own.

4. Mumps - Mumps is a viral infection that affects the salivary glands, causing them to swell. It usually spreads via airborne droplets from the nose or throat of an infected person.

5. Herpes Simplex - Herpes simplex virus from active lesions can be transmitted to a healthy mouth through the exchange of saliva during kissing. Oral sex can also transfer the virus to the genital organs causing genital herpes infection.
