Filmmaker Priyadarshan hardly needs an introduction and here we have chosen five of his directorials. These 5 Malayalam movies fit the comedy genre and are guaranteed to soothe your nerves.

01 ​Thenmavin Kombathu

Featuring Mohanlal, Shobana, and Nedumudi Venu, in the lead roles, this 1994 film is a true delight if you are a sucker for romantic comedies. Although there is an undercurrent of a triangle love story, the movie majorly focuses on relationships Manikyan (Mohanlal) shares with the mother-like figure Yeshodhamma (Kaviyoor Ponnamma) and her brother Thampuran (Nedumudi Venu). 

02 ​Chandralekha

Released in 1997, ‘Chandralekha’ features Mohanlal, Sukanya, Pooja Batra, Sreenivasan, Nedumudi Venu, and Innocent in lead roles. The movie revolves around Chandra (Sukanya), who meets with an accident and gets paralyzed, and Appu (Mohanlal), the stranger who enters her life unexpectedly. The comedy movie would literally make you laugh your lungs out. 

03 Megham

The 1999 release Mammootty, Priya Gill, and Pooja Batra in lead roles. The comedy-drama tells the story of Kelan aka Colonel Ravi Varma (Mammootty), who decides to take a leave for a while, and spend some alone time, after his wife Swathi (Pooja Batra) leaves him. The movie is filled with chucklesome moments and how the tough Colonel starts to accept the way life is!

04 ​Kakkakuyil

Mohanlal and Mukesh in lead roles and shows the attempts of two unemployed men to survive. Nedumudi Venu and Kaviyoor Ponnamma play the pivotal roles in the film and is a great movie to watch to ward off the pandemic blues.

05 ​Vettam

Released in 2004, ‘Vettam’ features Dileep, Bhavna Pani, and Kalabhavan Mani in the lead roles. Gopi (Dileep), a petty thief, who stole the Spanish Queen’s necklace is on the run. He is accompanied by his friend Mani (Kalabhavan Mani) and Veena (Bhavna Pani). The screwball comedy is filled with hilarious moments, romance, and sentiments and we think this movie will make you feel a little lighter.
