Hyderabad: 50 vials of covishield vaccine were found missing from hospital in Kondapur on Thursday amid vaccine shortage in Telangana. According to reports, Swarajya Lakshmi, director of the medical health officer, said she came to know about the disappearance of 50 vials of the covishield vaccine on Thursday and has been looking for the same since then. At the same time, a police complaint has been registered and an inquiry has been ordered into the disappearance of vials of the covishield vaccine. The vaccination campaign has come to a standstill for the past one week due to shortage of vaccine in the state. The third phase of vaccination for 18 to 44-year-old group people are allowed to get vaccinated in the country from May 1 amid a steadily intensifying corona infection. But due to shortage of vaccine, vaccination has been done in all the States. About 191.4 million people in the country have been vaccinated so far. According to sources, the government's entire focus is currently on increasing the production of the vaccine and delivering it easily to the rural level. The Covid-19 vaccination programme was launched in India on January 16, only two vaccines were available in the country. The covishield of serum institute of India (SII) and the covaccine of Bharat Biotech were approved. But now people in India are also getting Sputnik V vaccine from Russia.
