Kamrup: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inaugurated a 5,000-year-old historic Shiva temple in Darrang district of Assam. This temple has been made free from encroachment and it has been constructed afresh. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he feels like a heaven by visiting this ancient temple. "I had the privilege of inaugurating a guest house and a priest's house along with the historic Shiva temple in Dholpur," Sarma said while inaugurating the temple of Lord Bholenath at Dholpur in Sijhapar area of Darrang district. I consider myself blessed for that. He also said that magnificent roads will be constructed in Dholpur to ensure that devotees from Assam do not face any problem in commuting to this Shiva temple. Since the area is flood affected, a dam will also be constructed to protect Dholpur from frequent floods. Also, the kind of problems that will arise regarding the temple, they will be resolved in every possible way. After the inauguration of the temple, CM Sarma wrote in a tweet, 'During the encroachment in Garukhuti, we had taken a pledge that we will try to bring the 5000-year-old Shivalaya there to its old glory. Today he dedicated this work at the feet of Bholenath. With Mahadev's blessings and everyone's cooperation, Garukhuti is reclaiming its ancient heritage. In such a situation, CM Sarma also planted trees in the temple premises and said that the Assam government is constantly working towards ensuring a clean and green environment for the coming generations.
