New Delhi: The Indian Army is celebrating its 77th Army Day today, January 15, marking the occasion with a display of significant technological advancements as part of its commitment to operational efficiency and self-reliance. On the occasion of the 77th Army Day, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, extended his heartfull wishes and paid tribute to the nation's soldiers. Taking to social media X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Wishing a Happy Army Day to the brave soldiers, veterans, and their families who tirelessly guard our nation’s borders with unparalleled dedication and courage. Every Indian salutes your unwavering spirit and sacrifice. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.” Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed his deep gratitude towards the Indian Army. In a message, he stated, “We wholeheartedly thank the brave soldiers, veterans, and their families on this special occasion of Indian Army Day. The Indian Army is the bedrock of our national security, ensuring the protection of our borders even in the most challenging terrains. Beyond defending our borders, the Army plays a vital role in managing internal security and providing assistance during natural disasters.” Kharge further added, “We are forever indebted to the unmatched bravery, professionalism, and selfless service demonstrated by our soldiers, who stand as an unshakable shield for our nation.” Earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan also paid their respects and extended their greetings on Army Day. Last year, the Army declared 2023 as the “Year of Technology Absorption” and has extended this initiative through 2024. This aligns with the Ministry of Defence's vision to declare 2025 as the “Year of Reforms” as part of the broader “Decade of Transformation” (2023-2032), aimed at modernizing India’s defence capabilities.
