The pandemic situation has exposed us to many challenges and new realities that we never deemed possible. But in these times of adversity, certain individuals and organizations have risen and gone beyond their limitations to alleviate the stresses and difficulties faced by so many and provide much needed relief and above all hope. The Unicorn Xpress foundation or Tux has been one such entity. An initiative started by dental surgeon and philanthropist Dr. Karishma Vijan, TUX is an NGO established with a mission to empower underprivileged women by providing optimum need of the hour ,cancer & disease prevention healthcare facilities. Cancer awareness and preventative treatment are their flagship programmes. Dr Karishma is a renowned dental surgeon and smile expert , founder at Quintessence smiles, Indias first curative and holistic dental studio. She truly believes in helping young girls to achieve great smiles. Elaborating her base philosophy and origin story about the foundation Dr Karishma adds that “The Birth of TUX has been out of passion as a trust foundation and it grew so quickly and organically in less than a year that it motivated us to work even harder towards our healthcare goals. We began our program with women and children's health, then started with our oral cancer prevention and oral health program, it all happened organically. We focus on uplifting the underprivileged women and young girls to not only benefit them in the present but also future. We have collaborated with several grassroot organizations and provided women beneficiaries with our preventive awareness and treatment camps. We believe that no patient should be left without the hope of successful treatment.” But considering the need of the hour, Tux foundation decided to extend its assistance towards other areas where help was needed. They have distributed sixteen thousand meals to several NGO’s across Mumbai . In the first wave they distributed sanitary pads to health care workers. In addition to this they have undertaken the distribution of foodgrains, medicines not only across Mumbai but also in Dadra and Nagar Haveli as well as several other states. The Tux foundation is highly committed to make positive changes in women’s healthcare even during the pandemic. Their mantra is to uplift the human spirit and to empower women to take strides towards success with an education and awareness about all health concerns. Tux aims at providing women with the necessary tools that will enable them to take preventative steps against life threatening ailments. With such a foundation started by a woman aimed at helping women , there are no limits to what it can achieve. Here’s hoping for a bright future for this wonderful endeavor that will change all women’s lives for the better.
