Shepherds heard a baby crying when they were passing by the outskirts of the Krishnavaram village of Andhra Pradesh. The sheepherders who were munching their cattle followed the cries and were shocked to find a newborn baby boy stranded and buried in a small cavity. It disturbed the people of Yetapaka Mandal in East Godavari district. When the news came to fore, locals and a woman from the nearby village rushed to the scene. A video of the woman washing the wailing baby with water and shifting mud from the mouth later is also going viral on social media. Sub-Inspector, Yetapaka, said that information is sent to them by the locals and the baby was quickly shifted to the hospital. The weight of the baby was one kilogram. The cops had registered the case under Section 317 (exposure and abandonment of a child under twelve years, by parent or person having care of it) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police have started their investigation. As per the local woman who first came to rescue the baby boy, the child seemed to have been delivered the same morning. The local health staff took the baby under their possession who later reached the location. The baby is at Bhadrachalam hospital. The treatment is undergoing however the child is stable now. Women Development and Child Welfare Department officers are also working with the cops of Yetapaka expecting to locate the parents. The police is also monitoring hospitals in nearby villages to check details about all the deliveries that took place on Saturday.
