A man arrested for calming sexual harassment allegation while pretending to be a woman

Mumbai: On Monday, a 25-year-old man was arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly making sexual harassment allegation during the peak of the #Metoo campaign. It is to be noted that the youth made allegations while pretending to be a woman. He had accused a chief executive officer (CEO) of the advertising company of harassment on social media.

Here it is to be noted that according to police, around four to six posts were published in Social media accusing the CEO a sex pest. The accused made these claims using an anonymous social media account. Later, the CEO approached the court and received an order to file FIR to find who was behind these posts. "We registered an FIR on March 16 and traced the accused with digital evidence against him," a police officer told to mid-day.

However, it is worth mention here that after the accused was nabbed, he told police that his woman friend who had worked in the company told him about the alleged sexual harassment she faced in the company by the CEO. Meanwhile, an investigation into the matter is on and police officials are probing whether the female friend knew about the posts.The #MeToo movement is a movement against sexual assault and sexual harassment. The movement went viral in October 2017 in social media in an attempt to bring out sexual assaults and harassment faced by women, especially in the workplace.
