Kolkata: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) employee in Bardhaman district of West Bengal set himself ablaze, including his wife and four-year-old son. All three died scorching in this incident, while one of their 11-year-old daughter survived. She managed to escape before the fire broke out. The reason behind the incident in Mistripara village under Manteshwar police station area is not yet clear. The girl, who managed to escape after saving her life, told the police that her father, 38-year-old Sudeb Dey, woke her up at 1 am and told her that all the family members would die together. The girl said that her father poured kerosene on herself, her mother Rekha and her brother Snehanshu and set them on fire. She got scared and managed to escape. Around 3 pm, the girl called a relative and told him what had happened. The family reached their house and found the burnt bodies in a room. Additional Superintendent of Police Rural Dhruba Das inspected the scene of the incident and spoke to Sujdeb's relatives and neighbours. Inspector In-Charge of Katwa RPF Bibek Singh said that Dey had been working in Katwa for the last five years.
