The woman was abducted and gang-raped by six persons in a village in Thana Hapur Kotwali area of Garhmiteshwar. The panchayat, which is sitting in the village, has issued a decree to release one lakh rupees each from the accused to the victim and dismissed the case. Despite this, the family members of the victim filed a complaint against the accused. The police registered a case against six persons, including two nominated, on Tahrir of the victim. The girl is married in Delhi and her husband works in Delhi. The girl had been living in the ancestral village for many years with her four children. Her family members allege that on Saturday night, six drunken men forcibly drove the woman into a car and took her to the woods where she took the woman hostage for several hours and gang-raped her. The woman returned home and told the family about the incident. A panchayat was held in the village where the victim, as well as the family members of the accused, were called. After hearing both the sides, the Gram Panchayat dismissed the case by citing the need to save the accused from defamation by giving one lakh rupees each to the family members of the victim. The family members of the victim threw Tahrir at the police station against the accused. Inspector H.R.Singh Yadav has registered a case of kidnapping against six youths, including two nominated, on Sunday night. The accused will be arrested soon.
