Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs spent the night in the state legislative assembly building to protest against Captain Amarinder Singh's government not sharing the draft agriculture law. He demanded the Congress' Amarinder government to share a draft copy of the proposed legislation to be tabled in the Assembly. Several MLAs of the AAP sat in the assembly hall till late Monday demanding copies of the draft bill. Punjab wants to counter the new agriculture laws of the Center using state laws. AAP leader Harpal Cheema said, "AAP will support legislation against agriculture laws, but the government will have to show us copies of draft bills. We have not even received copies of other bills. How to discuss and debate important issues ?" The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) had recently left the BJP-led NDA due to agriculture laws, saying the bill should have been tabled in the assembly on Monday. Punjab MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu also attended the assembly session for the first time after resigning from the state cabinet last year.
