AAP hits out PM Modi over CBI raids on Dy CM Manish Sisodia

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)  on Friday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) action against Manish Sisodia. The AAP  accused PM of using the CBI to defame the party and its leaders due to the ''growing popularity'' of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his model of governance.

The party further asserted that Sisodia will ultimately be exonerated of the charges and that the nation will see the true nature of the prime minister. After filing a FIR in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, the CBI searched 19 other locations in addition to the homes of Arava Gopi Krishna, an IAS officer, and Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Sisodia.

Sanjay Singh, national spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said during a news conference that the alleged errors in the creation of the excise policy are only "a pretext" to pursue Sisodia by the CBI.

Days after Delhi Health Minister Satyender Jain, who gave the Delhi model of mohalla clinic to the world, was jailed by the Enforcement Directorate, the prime minister Modi has put the CBI after Sisodia, the party charged.

The prime minister cannot sleep at night due to Kejriwal's rising popularity and his Delhi model of government in the education and healthcare sectors, Singh claimed. As a result, preparations are being made to lock Sisodia up as well. He said that the CBI raids against Sisodia came a day after a story about the Delhi model of education was published in the New York Times with a picture of the deputy chief minister.
