Raghav Chadha's Extended Absence Raises Questions Amid Kejriwal's Arrest

New delhi: Amid speculation regarding AAP leader Raghav Chadha's prolonged absence from the political scene, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj revealed that the Rajya Sabha MP underwent major eye surgery in the UK due to a critical eye condition. Bharadwaj stated that Chadha's condition was severe, with a possibility of him losing his eyesight.

Chadha is expected to return to India and join AAP's election campaigning once he recovers. Raghav Chadha has been in London since March 8, missing from the political scene during a time when AAP faced challenges due to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's arrest in the liquor policy case. His last post on X was on April 28, when he retweeted a video of Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal at a roadshow in West Delhi. The BJP criticized Chadha for meeting UK parliamentarian Preet Kaur Gill, whom they accused of advocating for Khalistani separatism and raising funds for Khalistanis.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya questioned Chadha's motives for remaining in London, suggesting he may be using the surgery as an excuse to stay away from the political situation in India. Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar also raised questions about Chadha's absence. Earlier this month, Delhi minister Atishi claimed that four other AAP leaders, including Chadha, would be arrested by the ED in the next two months.
