AAP to Hold Meeting Ahead of Delhi Election Results

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will hold a crucial meeting today (February 7, 2025) with all 70 of its candidates ahead of the Delhi Assembly election results, which will be announced on February 8.

According to sources, the meeting is set for 11:30 AM and will focus on preparations for the results and concerns over alleged attempts to bribe AAP MLAs.

After exit polls predicted a strong victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of trying to lure AAP candidates. In a social media post on X, he said that several AAP candidates had received calls offering them money and ministerial positions if they switched parties. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi also supported these claims. However, the BJP has strongly denied the allegations.

Kejriwal wrote in his post, "Some agencies claim that the ‘Gali Galoch party’ (referring to BJP) will win over 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates got calls offering Rs 15 crore and ministerial posts if they leave AAP and join BJP." He further alleged that the exit polls predicting a BJP victory were intended to pressure AAP candidates.

Different exit polls have given mixed results. While some predict BJP winning 51-60 out of 70 seats, others suggest AAP could still come out on top. According to the P-MARQ exit poll, BJP may secure 39-49 seats, AAP 21-31, and Congress 0-1. The WeePreside poll suggests AAP could win 46-52 seats, BJP 18-23, and Congress 0-1.

The final results will be declared on February 8. AAP has dominated Delhi’s last two assembly elections.
