AFC U-23: India beat Kyrgyzstan in penalty shootout

New Delhi: Goalkeeper Dhiraj Singh's superb performance helped India beat Kyrgyzstan 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the Group E match to finish second. The team has shown its mettle in the AFC Under-23 Asian Football Qualifiers. According to media reports, the match was equal without a goal after regular time. After the draw, both the teams had 4 points in the group and the goal difference was the same (0). Both the teams scored the same 2 goals in all the matches.

In group E, let us tell you respectively that a penalty shootout was used to decide the second and third-placed team. UE defeated Oman 2-0 to top Group E. The top team from each group and the best 4 teams from all the groups are set to compete for next year's prestigious continental competition.

India will now have to wait for the other group to conclude the match to find out if India will be able to qualify for the under-23 Asian Cup AFC for the first time. In the penalty shootout, Dhiraj stopped 2 shots from the opposition players while Rahul KP, Rohit Danu, Suresh Singh and Rahim Ali scored for India.
