Afghan flag carrier to restart India, China, Kuwait flights

KABUL: Afghanistan's national airline, Ariana Afghan Airlines has announced that flights to India, China, and Kuwait will resume soon. "Flights to India will begin soon, where there are a lot of goods and a number of our passengers for treatment.  Our flights to India, China, and Kuwait are set to begin soon "Rahmatullah Agha, the airline's CEO said. The airline already flies to Doha twice a week, and the cost of a ticket for the three new flights has yet to be determined.

The Afghanistan Chamber of Agriculture and Livestock (ACAL) claims that with the introduction of flights between Kabul and Delhi, the country's exports will be expanded. India is one of the main markets for Afghan agricultural and horticultural products.

"India's market is a good opportunity for our agriculture sector," Mirwais Hajizada, a member of ACAL, said. "Right now in Afghanistan, it's the season of grapes, pomegranates, apricots, saffron, medicinal plants, and we hope that our exports will increase to other countries through air corridors."

Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is also confident about the economy's expansion and the development of the country's transit. "Afghanistan is now becoming a transportation and economic hub, with hundreds of vehicles passing through in transit every day," he said.

The flag airline resumed domestic flights the following month after the Taliban took control of Kabul in August of last year.
