Since when has Valentine's Day been celebrated: Some reports suggest that in the year 496, First Valentine's Day was celebrated. Accordingly, Valentine's Day began with the Roman Festival. From the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius declared St. Valentines-day on 14 February, since then it has been celebrated. The Romans celebrated a festival called Lupercalia in the middle of February, on which mass marriages take place.
