Dehradun: Following his party's defeat in the assembly elections, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday tendered his resignation to Governor Banwarilal Purohit. The same Charanjit Singh Channi, after resigning from the post of CM, said that he had recommended to the Governor in his last cabinet meeting to dissolve the 15th Assembly and the Governor had asked him to continue in his posts till he was sworn in. After the same Charanjit Singh Channi, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also resigned. Pushkar Singh Dhami said, "A new mandate has been received, the work of this period has been completed. I have resigned the entire cabinet, including myself, to the Hon'ble Governor. The Governor has said that you will work till the new government is formed." On the other hand, on the defeat of father Swami Prasad Maurya in the election, his daughter and BJP MP Sanghamitra Maurya said in Lucknow, "Defeat and victory depend on the people. There must have been a shortage whether it was the dad or other top leaders of the party. That's why we got to see this result. I didn't go to my dad's campaign."
