New Delhi: On Friday, April 5, following the daily revision in retail fuel rates, petrol prices rose by 5 paise while diesel prices remain unchanged across four metropolitan cities in the country. Petrol prices in New Delhi were raised by 5 paise to Rs 72.91 a litre as against Rs 72.86 on Thursday. Diesel in the national capital is retailing at Rs 66.14 a litre, no change in price compared with Thursday’s rate, according to data from Indian Oil Corporation website. In metro cities prices are as citizens in Mumbai have to shell out Rs 78.48 for a litre of petrol after a 5 paise increase over Thursday’s rate. Diesel prices were unchanged from Thursday’s level at Rs 69.22 per litre in Mumbai. Retail petrol price in Kolkata was hiked by 5 paise to Rs 74.93 a litre, from Rs 74.88 recorded on Thursday. Diesel prices were stagnant at Rs 67.88 per litre. In October last year, petrol prices had peaked to a record high of Rs 84 per litre in Delhi and Rs 91.34 in Mumbai. Diesel prices went up to Rs 75.45 a litre in the national capital and Rs 80.10 in Mumbai.
