After Sindhu, Saina Nehwal crashes out of Japan Open Super Series

The Indian player Saina Nehwal has faced  Rio Olympic gold medallist Carolina Marin in the Japan Open Super Series on Thursday. In the first game, both the players were going neck-to-neck but Saina leads 11-9 over Marin. 

Though, Nehwal led in the first game Carolina Marin beats Saina Nehwal by 21-16, 21-13 by giving her best performance. Sindhu lost against Nozomi Okuhara and With these losses, there is no Indian left in the women's singles draw anymore.

Rio-Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu lost to Nozomi Okuhara by 18-21 8-21. Kidambi Srikanth moves into the quarter-final with a win over Yun Hu. HS Prannoy beats Hsu Jen Hao by 21-16 23-21  to enter men’s singles quarter-finals.

In the men's singles event, H.S. Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth had stormed into the quarter-finals after comfortably winning their matches. Srikanth, on the other hand, has set up a clash against third-seed Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.

Only Indians to make the 2017 Japan Open quarter-finals are Srikanth Kidambi, HS Prannoy and the mixed doubles pair of Sikki Reddy and Pranaav Jerry Chopra.

In the mixed doubles event, the Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa also crashed out of the tournament after suffering a 27-29, 21-16, 12-21 defeat against the Indonesia pair of Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto.
