Today i.e. August 13 is the death anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar. Her name is counted among the powerful women of Indian history. Ahilyabai (1725-1795) was a great ruler and empress of Malwa province. People also know her by the name Rajmata Ahilyadevi Holkar and she was born in 1725 in Chondi village in Maharashtra. Her father Mankoji Shinde herself was from Dhangar Samaj, who played the role of Patil of the village. Her father taught Ahilyabai. Ahilyabai's life was also going through a very simple way. Luck suddenly overturned and she became the queen of Malwa province in the 18th century. The character and ingenuity of Yuva Ahilyadevi influenced Malhar Rao Holkar. He used to work as a commander in Peshwa Bajirao's army. He liked Ahilya so much that he got her married to his son Khande Rao. In this way Ahilya Bai reached the Holkar royal family of Maratha community as a bride. Her husband died in the Battle of Kumbher in 1754. Responsibility came on Ahilyadevi. At the behest of his father-in-law, she showed interest not only in military matters but also in administrative matters and carried out it effectively. Talking about the last time of her life, the miraculous and ornate rule of Ahilyabai Holkar came to an end in 1795, when she died. In her greatness and honor, the Government of India issued a postage stamp in her memory on 25 August 1996. The citizens of Indore instituted an award in his name in 1996. This award is given for exceptional work. Before this, the respected person was Nanaji Deshmukh.
