Lucknow: Shah Alam (Guddu Jamali), who left Asaduddin Owaisi's party AIMIM and returned home to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has been fielded by Mayawati from Azamgarh for the Lok Sabha by-election. The seat fell vacant following the resignation of Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav. Today Guddu Jamali has returned to the BSP. By making him a Lok Sabha candidate after returning home, Mayawati has played a big bet. Mayawati's bet is a direct challenge to Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh Yadav was the Lok Sabha MP from this seat, but on March 22, Akhilesh had resigned from the Lok Sabha membership. The only candidate of the party in the assembly elections was Shah Alam (Guddu Jamali) who could save his bail. In the 403 assembly seats of UP, Asaduddin Owaisi had fielded more than 100 candidates, only Guddu Jamali could save his bail. Guddu Jamali had finished fourth from the Mubarakpur assembly seat in Azamgarh and got 36,419 votes. The Samajwadi Party had won from this seat, while the BAHUJAN Samaj Party had to settle for second place and the BJP third. In all the 10 seats of Azamgarh, the SP had waved the flag of victory.
