Air India Extends Check-In Deadline for International Flights from Delhi: All You Need to Know

Air India has announced a change in its check-in policy for international flights departing from Delhi. As of September 10, 2024, the check-in counters will close 75 minutes before the scheduled departure time, an adjustment from the previous 60-minute closure. This update aims to enhance the travel experience by allowing more time for check-in and security procedures.

In a statement, Air India explained that this new timing will help ensure a smoother and more comfortable travel experience, particularly during busy periods. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport earlier to accommodate this new check-in window.

In addition to the updated check-in policy, Air India is making strides in improving its services. The airline is set to introduce onboard Wi-Fi, starting with its A350 aircraft on the Delhi-London Heathrow route. This route will see flights operated twice daily using the A350-900, which replaces the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on 14 of the 17 weekly flights. This change will add 336 extra seats weekly on this route.

The airline has been expanding its fleet with new A350 planes earlier this year as part of its strategy to enhance its service offerings.

In related news, Union Minister of Civil Aviation K Ram Mohan Naidu recently launched the DigiYatra facility at Visakhapatnam Airport. This new system aims to streamline passenger processing through contactless and seamless facial biometric validation. The DigiYatra initiative will be extended to eight other Airports, representing a significant advancement in digital travel experiences in India.
