Air India Group now operates approximately 8,500 weekly flights with its extensive fleet of 300 aircraft, covering 312 domestic and international routes, according to sources within the airline. The Tata Group-owned airline, which recently merged with Vistara, has emerged as India's largest international airline and the second-largest domestic carrier.

The merged entity, combining Air India and Vistara, operates 210 aircraft on 91 destinations and 174 routes, with around 5,600 weekly flights. The fleet includes a mix of wide-body and narrow-body planes, totaling 67 wide-body aircraft, of which seven previously belonged to Vistara.

Tata Group also owns Air India Express, which recently completed its integration with AIX Connect as of October 1. Air India itself has 80 narrow-body and 60 wide-body planes, while Vistara has 63 narrow-body and seven wide-body aircraft. Meanwhile, Air India Express operates 90 narrow-body planes, serving a diverse range of routes.

Altogether, Air India Group covers 103 destinations — 55 domestic and 48 international — with operations spread across 160 domestic and 152 international routes. The fleet features Boeing 777-300 ERs, 777-200 LRs, 787-8s, 787-9s, Airbus A320 family aircraft, and A350s.

In terms of market presence, Air India, Vistara, and AIX Connect together held a domestic market share of over 29% in September, based on recent official data. With continued expansion efforts, the group is expected to bring in more planes over the coming months.

On Tuesday, Air India pilots announced the official milestone of the Vistara merger, reassuring passengers that the distinctive Vistara in-flight experience remains on flights with the code 'AI2'. The announcement also highlighted Air India’s revamped Maharaja Club loyalty program and promised passengers more destinations and an enhanced travel experience.
