Air India launches ‘super sale’

Air India Ltd launched a limited period sale scheme, offering customers all-inclusive ticket prices starting as low as Rs.1,499 for domestic flights.The tickets under the “super sale offer” can be booked between 21 and 25 May for travel between July and 30 September, Air India said. Last week, three low-cost airlines—SpiceJet, IndiGo and AirAsia India—had announced low airfares for their flights under similar schemes.

While SpiceJet offered one-way fares starting Rs.511, IndiGo offered Rs.800. AirAsia India, which is completing two years of operations, had also cut ticket prices by half on several routes.

Indian aviation companies witnessed yet another month of double-digit growth in domestic passenger traffic in April. The carriers flew 79.32 lakh (7.93 million) million passengers, 21 percent more than 65.59 lakh (6.55 million) passengers they carried in April 2015, according to Indian government data.
