New Delhi: Oil companies have given relief to the state-run airline Air India, which is struggling with the debt crisis. Oil companies have now deferred the decision to ban fuel supply to Air India in Hyderabad and Raipur. With this, the airline will continue to supply oil to these cities. Oil companies have already stopped fuel supply at six airports for non-payment of fuel dues. On August 22 last month, oil companies refused to provide fuel to Air India in Pune, Visakhapatnam, Cochin, Patna, Ranchi and Mohali. Air India owes fuel of over Rs 4,500 crore. So the oil companies refused to provide fuel. An Air India spokesperson said in a statement on Friday, "The fuel supply restrictions at these six airports will continue". While at other airports it will be available as before. 'Air India has been buying fuel since April by paying cash and paying Rs 18 crore of fuel per day. Indian Oil has given the facility of bill payment to Air India in 90 days without any bail but now the amount has increased and the pending payment period has increased to 240 days. By the end of March, Air India had an outstanding fuel bill of Rs 4,600 crore which came down to Rs 4,300 crore at the end of July.
