Port Blair: AirAsia will begin operating an international flight from Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, starting this Saturday. This marks the introduction of the first-ever international flight service from Port Blair's Veer Savarkar International Airport, which has not previously hosted international airlines.

Kesavan Sivanandam, Chief Airport and Customer Experience Officer at AirAsia, said, "This is a significant milestone for us as it will be the first international flight from Port Blair. Our focus is not only on commercial viability but also on connecting people. We are grateful to the local administration for their unwavering support."

Tour operators in the Andaman Islands are optimistic about the impact of this new service on the region’s tourism sector, especially as it connects the islands to Southeast Asia. "I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and congratulations to AirAsia for making this initiative possible, which enhances air connectivity between Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Southeast Asia," said Devender Yadav, Airport Director at Port Blair. "Tourism plays a vital role in the economy of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and airports are key to boosting this sector. With the combined efforts of all stakeholders, we are confident that civil aviation in the region will reach new heights." he said.
