Airline from Canada Over 800 employees suspends over 800 unvaccinated employees

Canada: Air Canada, Canada's largest airline, has suspended over 800 employees due to a lack of COVID-19 vaccination, according to Global News. According to the publication, Michael Russo, Air Canada's Deputy Chief Executive Officer, stated that the majority of the company's employees were fully vaccinated in accordance with federal COVID-19 regulations.

"Our employees have done their part, with over 96 percent of them having received their vaccinations. Employees who have not been vaccinated or who do not have a medical or other exemption have been placed on unpaid leave "According to Global News, Russo said. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had earlier in October ordered air, rail, and shipping companies to establish vaccination policies for their employees by October 30. The requirement for vaccination was made mandatory for airlines whose employees enter restricted areas of airports. Workers in the concession and hospitality industries are among them.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Canada during the pandemic is estimated to be 1,720,355, with 29,056 deaths. COVID-19 cases are decreasing on a daily basis, with 2,283 new cases being reported each day. COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to at least 58,756,154 people in Canada, equating to about 78 percent of the population.
