AK Antony: Leaking of official secret of military operations is treason

The Congress on Wednesday stepped up its attack on Republic TV promoter and anchor Arnab Goswami. It said the leaking of official secret of military operations is treason and those involved must be punished, Congress leader AK Antony said on Wednesday referring to the purported WhatsApp chats of Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami doing the rounds of social media.

Addressing a press conference here, he also said that the government should immediately order an inquiry into information leak about the 2019 airstrikes. On February 26, 2019, India had launched airstrikes on what was said to be Jaish-e-Mohammed's training camp in Pakistan's Balakot.

Referring to an alleged conversation about influencing judicial decisions, the party asked whether “the judiciary will turn a blind eye or set example” to restore the faith of people in the judicial system.

The party fielded former Defence Minister A.K. Antony, former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, former Law Minister Salman Khurshid and Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad at a joint press conference in which they asked “Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come clean on the accusations to restore the credibility of the highest office.
