Aligarh Muslim University squash by BJP leader for issuing notice for organising a tiranga yatra

ALIGARH: On Friday,  BJP MP from Aligarh, Satish Gautam, tied out at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) authorities for issuing a show cause notice to an ABVP student leader for organsing a "tiranga yatra" on the campus. Gautam demanded that the AMU authorities must remove the "senseless" notice without any delay.Satish Gautam was quoted that "This is a senseless step and should be withdrawn. Aligarh Muslim University officials seem to have lost their mental balance."

A show cause notice was issued by AMU authorities to Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad's student leader Ajay Singh for holding an "unauthorised procession", called 'tiranga yatra' on the campus on January 22. It is to be noted that Singh is also the grandson of a local BJP MLA.

In May 2018, Satish Kumar Gautam triggered unrest when he demanded the portrait of Muhammad Jinnah be removed from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Violent protests ensued, allegedly led by Hindu activists, over the portrait of the founder of Pakistan and former Muslim League leader. Following the protests, students from the university organized a peaceful protest to stand against the oppression.

Satish sparked controversy once more in the month of May when a video surfaced of the MP abusing power in an attempt to interfere with the railway schedule. In the video, he is seen yelling at an official, demanding that the Vaishali Express enter the station before the scheduled Rajdhani Express due to the regional president of BJP arriving from the former.
