Srinagar: All educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir have now been closed till May 31 in view of the ever increasing infection of corona. Under the new restrictions, all schools, colleges, universities, technical or skill development institutes in the state have been ordered to remain closed. The order in this regard was issued on Sunday by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha's chief secretary BVR Subramaniam who is also the head of the state executive committee. According to the order, "All schools, colleges, universities, technical or skill development institutes will be closed in Jammu and Kashmir till May 31". Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha had spoken about the closure of educational institutions in the state at a meeting convened to review the corona epidemic situation in the state. In fact, the covid test of various school teachers and students came positive after which the government decided to close down educational institutions. Earlier, under Section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the State Executive Committee had issued an order to close all schools and colleges by May 15, 2021 in exercise of its powers. But in view of the uncontrollable pace of corona infection, the order has now been changed to close all educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir till May 31.
