New Delhi: A petition has been filed in the supreme court seeking identification and detention of Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators in West Bengal. The petition sought an order from the Centre and the West Bengal government to deport all such persons within a year. The petition has been filed under Article 32 of the Constitution by Human Rights activist Sangeeta Chakraborty from Burdwan. The petition seeks to identify government officials, policemen and security forces and impose national security laws (NSA) on them linked to mafias that have led to illegal infiltration into India. The petition, filed through advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, said that disproportionate assets of such government officials should be confiscated 100 percent. The petition also said that NSA should also be imposed on government officials, travel agents and others who provided Aadhaar, ration cards, voter IDs etc. The petition also said that a chapter should be added to the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the offence of illegal entry into the country should be declared cognizable non-bailable and non-negotiable. The petition claimed that after the recent assembly elections in West Bengal, Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators have committed incidents like looting, assault, kidnapping of Hindu families. Their houses have been set on fire.
