A vehicle, part of the Amarnath security convoy skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led the first group of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims out of the Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu. The district authorities later picked up the first batch at Tikri's Kali Mata Temple in the Udhampur district. In the meantime, a car from the security convoy for Amarnath veered off the national highway in the Udhampur area. A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and two other people were hurt in the incident, according to the Superintendent of Police (SSP). The injured have all been taken to the hospital and they are shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for treatment. Over 3,300 pilgrims had arrived at the Jammu base camp to start their Amarnath Yatra Journey. The first batch of pilgrims was flagged off from the Jammu base camp by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The journey of the pilgrims commenced under a multi-tier security setup. The first batch was fully guarded by CRPF troops with the area dominated by Army and Police. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha who is the chairman of the Shir Amarnath Shrine Board visited the Yatri Niwas base camp and saw all the arrangements.
