BENGALURU: E-commerce conglomerate Amazon announced on Sunday that it has created over 11.6 lakh direct and indirect jobs in India so far, and that it is on track to meet its goal of 20 lakh direct and indirect jobs by 2025. "Over 11.6 lakh employment have been generated, nearly USD5 billion in exports have been enabled, and over 40 lakh MSMEs have been digitised in India," stated Manish Tiwary, Country Manager, Amazon India Consumer Business. IT, e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing, content production, talent development, and other businesses are all represented. Amazon announced earlier this month that it plans to double its exports from India to USD20 billion by 2025. Amazon announced in 2020 that by 2025, it would enable USD10 billion in cumulative exports from India. The corporation announced in January 2020 that it would digitise 1 crore MSMEs. It has benefited over 40 lakh MSMEs, including sellers, craftspeople, and weavers, as well as delivery and logistics service providers. "We see Amazon having a larger role in India's digital transformation and a contemporary, thriving digital economy," Tiwary said. Last year, Amazon unveiled the USD250 million aAmazon Smbhav Venture Funda, which will invest in technology-focused firms and entrepreneurs.
