In a first, Amazon has launched a 'miniTV' on its shopping app for users in India. The Amazon miniTV is an-ad supported "free video streaming service" that would not require any paid subscription unlike other streaming apps. At present, Amazon miniTV will be available on Amazon India's shopping app for Android phones only. "miniTV will be extended to iOS app and mobile web over the coming months," Amazon said. "In a global first for Amazon, Amazon.in, today announced the launch of miniTV. miniTV is a free, ad-supported video streaming service available within the Amazon shopping app," Amazon said in a blog post. What is Amazon miniTV? According to Amazon, the miniTV has been "professionally created and curated content" across web-series, comedy shows, tech news, food, beauty, fashion and more. The list includes leading studios such as - TVF, Pocket Aces and leading comedians - Ashish Chanchlani, Amit Bhadana, Round2Hell, Harsh Beniwal, Shruti Arjun Anand, Elvish Yadav, Prajakta Koli, Swagger Sharma, Aakash Gupta and Nishant Tanwar. Apart from these, viewers on Amazon miniTV will be informed on latest products and trends by tech expert Trakin Tech, fashion and beauty experts such as Sejal Kumar, Malvika Sitlani, Jovita George, Prerna Chhabra and ShivShakti. For food lovers, the miniTV will have content from Kabita's Kitchen, Cook with Nisha, and Gobble. Amazon said in the coming months its miniTV will add "many more new and exclusive videos". How is Amazon miniTV different from Amazon Prime Video? The launch of Amazon miniTV comes at a time when Amazon already has a widely used video entertainment platform -- Prime Video. So how are these two different? Unlike the Amazon Prime Video that is based on an Amazon Prime subscription, the miniTV is completely free, and it does not require a separate app. It can be used on the same app where you shop online. Apart from this, Amazon Prime Video offers a collection of Amazon Originals, latest movies and TV shows, in English and nine Indian languages. Viewers can also access Prime Video on the app or stream it on their smart TVs.
