Major plane crash in Georgia, everyone dead

Washington: A small plane has crashed in Georgia of the United States. Five people, including four members of the same family, have died tragically. They were all going to attend a funeral. Giving information, Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills has said that the plane has fallen victim to the accident at 3.15 pm (US time).

After receiving the news of the accident, an emergency team reached the spot and extinguished the fire but found no one alive there. Officials say the family consisted of two young children, aged between four and six. The pilot and owner of the aircraft have been identified as 67-year-old Ray Pruitt, a resident of Florida. In addition, 41-year-old Sean Charles Lemont and his 43-year-old wife Jody Ray Lemont were among those who lost their lives.

The couple has a six-year-old son named Jess and a four-year-old daughter named Alice. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the two-engined Piper PA-31T flew from Williston, Florida and the aircraft was heading to Indiana. Sills said the family was to attend a funeral in Newcastle. The FAA is investigating the plane crash and has also been reported to the National Transportation Safety Board.
