Damascus: At least 50 rebels, including mainly rebel commanders, were killed on Saturday in US-led airstrikes targeting rebel commanders' meeting in Syria's northwestern province of Idlib. According to the news agency Xinhua, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that the meeting included group commanders of the Hurras al-Din and Ansar al-Touheed groups, both affiliated with the terrorist organization al-Qaeda.

It has told that the death toll is more than 50 and in view of this, more bodies are being searched. The UK-based watchdog group says the US-led coalition targets the meeting with seven missiles equipped with at least excessive explosives, killing more than 50 rebels.

The US Central Command confirmed the airstrike, saying that it had attacked the leaders of the terrorist organization al-Qaeda in Idlib province. He has said that 'In this operation, people who are responsible for the threat of attack on American citizens, our allies and innocent civilians have been targeted'. He told that only after the bodies were exposed, the actual figure of those who died would be known.
