Amit Shah urges people to ensure Congress doesn't come to power in Gujarat

AHMADABAD: Amit Shah, the minister of union home and cooperation, made a plea to voters on Thursday to prevent the Congress from winning the election in Gujarat.

"Congress members are cleverly trying to split voters on caste and creed lines," Shah remarked in a speech to a crowd after signalling the start of the "Gaurav yatra" from Zanzarka village here. He advised people to be aware of such cunning plots in order to avoid being caught.  Recollecting people how women select a mud pot, the same way before voting for any party, the electorate also should check its credentials and worthiness.

He asserted that "Congress has never carried out development work; it has always engaged in caste politics and seized power on the principle of divide and rule."

Shah listed the development initiatives carried out by the BJP under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and described how he initially set Gujarat on the path of growth.

People were given assurances by the Union Home Minister that the state's development efforts would continue. Amit Shah along with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and BJP state unit president C R Patel,  after flagging-off the Gaurav Yatra from Zanzarka, flew to Unai in Navsari, where he further flagged-off two 'Gaurav Yatras', of which one will cover tribal belt and another Surat, Bharuch and other parts of Central Gujarat.
