Trump's visit to India did not cost as much as Congress spent to save 'Gangster'

New Delhi: A big piece of information has come out about former US President Donald Trump's visit to India. According to the RTI, the central government had spent Rs 38 lakh on Trump's 36-hour visit to India. These include all the expenses including living, food, and logistics. The Ministry of External Affairs has given information in this regard in response to an RTI filed by an RTI activist. Donald Trump, accompanied by his wife Melania, daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner, visited India on February 24-25 for two days in 2020.

During this time Trump went to Ahmedabad, Agra and Delhi. He was in Ahmedabad for three hours on February 24 and held a 22-km-long roadshow. Along with this, Trump paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by reaching Sabarmati Ashram and then attended a grand program at the newly built Motera Cricket Stadium, where he participated in the program Namaste Trump organized by the Center – where PM Narendra Modi was also present.

Trump then went to the Taj Mahal in Agra by helicopter. Later, on February 25, he reached Delhi for a bilateral meeting. The RTI, filed by activist Mishal Bhatena, sought information on trump's travel expenses - including his food, accommodation, security, flights and transportation. The activist had filed an RTI on October 24, 2020, but there was no response from the Ministry of External Affairs. Later, he appealed to the Central Information Commission (CIC) and then the ministry gave this information to the CIC.

Rs 55 lakh spent to save Mukhtar Ansari:-

Let me tell you that Congress had invested more money to save gangster Mukhtar Ansari than the amount spent on former US President Donald Trump's visit to India. These allegations have been made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Punjab. According to the report, the Congress government in Punjab had blown away lakhs of public money to give VVIP treatment to mafia Mukhtar Ansari in jail. Along with this, more than Rs 55 lakh was also spent to save Mukhtar Ansari from the Uttar Pradesh government. This has been revealed in the investigation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of the state. Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was imprisoned for over two years in Punjab's Rupnagar jail.

An inquiry by the Bhagwant Mann government in the state has revealed that the Congress government spent Rs 11 lakh per hearing to a senior Supreme Court lawyer to fight Ansari's case. There were a total of 5 hearings in this case. Thus, a total of Rs 55 lakh of taxpayers was siphoned off on the fees of Mukhtar Ansari's lawyer. According to Jail Minister Harjot Bains, the lawyer allegedly took Rs 5 lakh on the day the hearing did not take place. The bills raised by the lawyer are still pending and the AAP government has refused to approve the bills.
