Arup Kumar Goswami was on Wednesday sworn in as the Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court. Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan administered the oath of office to Justice Goswami at a brief function in Vijayawada. The district administration made necessary arrangements at Kshetraiah Kalakshetram. Born in Jorhat of Assam on March 11, 1961, Justice Goswami graduated from Cotton College under Guwahati University in 1981 and did his LLB from the Government Law College, Guwahati, in 1985. Justice Goswami, who was previously the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court, was last week transferred as the Chief Justice of AP in the place of Justice J K Maheshwari, who was shifted to Sikkim. Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das, Principal Secretary (Political) Praveen Prakash and other officials were present on the occasion. The chief justice is also a sportsperson who played for Assam cricket team in Ranji Trophy and also represented the East Zone in Under-19, Under-22 and at the senior level.Ministers, Judges of the High Court and a few legislators also attended the event..
