Announcement of Candidates for Amethi, Raebareli to be Made at Right Time, Says Congress

The suspense surrounding the selection of candidates for the Amethi and Raebareli Lok Sabha seats by the Congress party will soon come to an end, assured Avinash Pandey, the party's Uttar Pradesh in-charge. These constituencies have historically been associated with the Gandhi family, with Sonia Gandhi representing Raebareli since 2004 and her son Rahul Gandhi contesting from Amethi, though he lost to BJP's Smriti Irani in the last elections.

"Amethi and Raebareli hold significant importance not only for Congress but for the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. We have communicated the sentiments of the public and party workers to the national leadership," Pandey informed reporters.

Despite calls from party workers to field Rahul Gandhi from Amethi and Priyanka Gandhi from Raebareli, the Congress is yet to finalize its candidates for these crucial seats. State unit president Ajay Rai has been vocal about supporting the candidature of the Gandhi siblings.

Pandey emphasized that political decisions are made strategically and the candidates will be announced according to the party's plan by the Central Election Committee.

Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent allegation regarding the Congress manifesto, Pandey stated, "Our manifesto reflects the aspirations of the people. Modi's attempt to divert attention from it indicates the failure of the BJP-led government over the past decade."

Critiquing Modi's governance, Pandey urged the Prime Minister to cease divisive tactics and prioritize restoring democracy.

In a collaborative effort, leaders from the Samajwadi Party and Congress met to strategize for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. Pandey highlighted the importance of joint campaigning and enhancing cooperation between the two opposition parties.

A massive rally of the opposition alliance is scheduled to take place in Uttar Pradesh soon, with plans for joint campaigns featuring Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi to be disclosed shortly.
