Anup Jalota: The Turbulent Life of the Bhajan King

Renowned bhajan singer Anup Jalota is all set to turn 71 on July 29. Born in Nainital, Uttarakhand, in 1953, Jalota has captivated audiences with his soulful voice and devotional songs. However, his personal life has been marred by controversies and multiple marriages.

Jalota has been married thrice, with each marriage ending in separation. His first wife was Sonali Sethi from Gujarat, but they parted ways soon after. He then married Bina Bhatia, but this marriage too didn't last long. His third wife, Medha Gujral, passed away in 2014 due to illness.

Jalota's most talked-about relationship was with actress and singer Jasleen Matharu, 37 years his junior. The two met on the sets of reality show "Bigg Boss 12" and their romance became a hot topic of discussion. However, after leaving the show, Jalota clarified that Jasleen was just his student, and their relationship was purely platonic.

Despite the controversies, Jalota's career has soared. He has been awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honor, for his contributions to music. Known as the "Bhajan Samrat," Jalota has mesmerized audiences with his devotional songs and continues to be a prominent figure in the music industry.

Jalota's relationship with Jasleen sparked debate due to their significant age difference. The two had accepted their relationship on national television, but after leaving the show, Jalota downplayed their romance, calling Jasleen just his student.

Jalota's personal life has been a subject of interest, but his music has remained untouched by controversy. He continues to enthrall audiences with his soulful voice and remains one of the most respected figures in the devotional music genre.
