Apple CEO Tim Cook to arrive to India today

After multiple visits of the bosses of Facebook, Amazon, Google and Microsoft to India, Tim Cook, the apple CEO since 2011, after Steve Jobs is all set to visit India for the first time which is a key market for iphones. Tim Cook has lately been to a visit in China to meet the heads of Didi Chuxing which is where Apple has invested $1 bn and operates as a ride sharing cab giving tough competition to Uber.

After its first ever decline in iphone sales, Tim cook's visit to India seems to be a crucial step as it looks like Tim Cook might announce Apple's plans to produce iphones in India's local market giving a boost to Modi's "Make in India" campaign.Reports suggest that he plans to visit Delhi along with some more Indian cities like Mumbai and Hyderabad landing in India this evening.

He is also reported to meet the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this week. The largest global manufacturing partner of Apple, Foxcon has already signed a joint venture with Adani Group to manufacture apple products in the country. Another reason could be meet officials related to making policies and talk about its recently rejected plan to sell refurbished devices in India. "If he is coming to India, it could be for many other things - not just for pushing the agenda of refurbished phones , I don't think the proposal to bring refurbished phones will go through, owing to stiff opposition by many local players such as Micromax and Intex," said an industry expert.

With a decline in the China market, and India being the second largest phone market but with only 2% of apple's market share in it, this visit of Tim Cook might be a move to boost apple's sales in the country.
