Apple Unveils iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 4: New Siri Features and AI Innovations

Apple has rolled out the fourth developer beta of iOS 18.1 for iPhone, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its mobile operating system ahead of its public release next month. This latest update introduces several key improvements, particularly for Siri and other system features, according to Gadgets 360.

A major highlight of iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 4 is the upgraded Type to Siri feature. This addition allows users to interact with Siri via typed commands instead of speaking. The new version enhances this capability by providing live suggestions as users type, making interactions smoother and more intuitive.

The update also extends the call recording and transcription functionality to older iPhone models. Previously available only on the iPhone 15 Pro series, users can now record calls by tapping an icon at the top-left corner of the screen. The recordings, along with their transcriptions, are saved directly to the Notes app. To maintain privacy, an audible notification is played when recording begins.

The beta version, with build numbers 22B5045h for the iPhone 16 series and 22B5045g for earlier models, also includes fixes for known issues with Spotlight search, Siri, and other system components.

In addition, iOS 18.1 integrates Apple Intelligence, the company's suite of AI tools first showcased at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). These tools feature a Clean Up function that uses AI to remove unwanted elements from photos, as well as AI-driven writing aids for adjusting text tone, summarizing content, and creating lists. Safari now offers web page summarization in Reader View, providing users with concise content overviews.
