Arjun Tendulkar equals father Sachin's record, creates history in his first match

New Delhi: Arjun Tendulkar, son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, has caught the attention of cricket legends around the world by scoring a century in his Ranji Trophy debut match. With this century, Arjun has also equaled the record of his father and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin also scored a century in his first match of the Ranji Trophy. Arjun, who came to bat at number 7 against Rajasthan from the Goa team, scored 120 runs.

He hit 12 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. Arjun completed his half-century off 52 balls and then completed a century in  178 balls. Suyyash Prabhu Desai, who was batting with Arjun, has also scored a century. The duo put on a 221-run stand for the sixth wicket, which set Goa in a strong position in this match. Rajasthan's team has deadly bowlers like Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Mahipal Lomror. Arjun was sent to the pavilion by Nagarkoti. Since Arjun's century, he has been compared to his father Sachin Tendulkar.

 

Actually, 34 years ago on December 11, 1988, father Sachin Tendulkar also scored a century against Gujarat in his first match of the Ranji Trophy. Arjun has also done this feat in the month of December. Sachin was only 15 years old at that time. Sachin also scored a century in his debut match in the Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy. Apart from being a left-handed batsman, Arjun also bowls fast with his left hand.

All-rounder Arjun was earlier part of the Mumbai team. He did not get a chance to make his debut from Maharashtra. He later made his place in the Goa team. On Monday (December 13), he got a chance to play the first match at the Ranji Trophy. On Tuesday, December 14, 2022, Arjun came out to bat after the team's 5th wicket fell. After that Arjun batted like an experienced batsman and played a brilliant inning of 120 runs.
