The main purpose of establishing the Sikh sect was to protect Hindus from Mughal invaders. This sect has saved India from the Mughals and the British on many important occasions. Ten Sikh gurus are considered, the last of whom was Guru Gobind Singh. The founder of the Khalsa sect, tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji was also a great freedom fighter and poet. Guru Gobind Singh ji is still a source of inspiration, sacrifice and valour. Guru Gobind Saheb is considered to be an important guru of Sikhs. His greatest specialty was his valour. Shri Guru Gbind Singh ji was born on 7th Year 1666 at the house of Mata Gujri ji and Father Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji in Patna. Guru Teg Bahadur ji was in Bengal at that time. According to him, the child was named Govind Rai and on the day of Baisakhi in 1699, Guruji became Guru Gobind Singh ji from Govind Rai. His childhood was spent in Patna, Bihar. When Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji was martyred while defending Hindu Dharma in Delhi in 1675, Guru Gobind Saheb ji sat on the guru's throne. Guru Gobind Singh's sons Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh are wonderful examples of valour and sacrifice. In his last moments, Guru Gobind Singh ji gathered all his Sikhs and taught them to behave well, love the country and always help the downtrodden. He then added that 'Gurugranth Sahib' would further guide him as a Guru of Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh passed away on October 7, 1708 in Nanded, Maharashtra.
