Asian Games 2018 :Rohan Bopanna, Divij Sharan win gold medal in Tennis Men’s Doubles

New Delhi: Indian men's doubles pair of Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan was in full action on day six of the ongoing  11th edition of Asian Games 2018  and won gold medal after defeating Kazakhstan pair Bublik Aleska and Yevseyev Denis in the finals by 6-3 6-4 .

Bopanna and Sharan assured India of at least silver when they advance in the final on Thursday, August 23 crushing Japan's Kaito Uesugi and Sho Shimabukuro 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 in the semis.

Taking to Twitter Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State (I/C) Youth Affairs & Sports, MoS (I/C) Information and  Broadcasting,  who is also a Olympic medalist greeted  Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan as saying, “Indian tennis champs @rohanbopanna and @divijsharan have excelled themselves, and with their FANTASTIC performance, won a GOLD in Men’s Doubles!! #AsianGames2018 #KheloIndia #IndiaAtAsianGames “.

Due to this tremendous performance, Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan India took 6th gold medal.

Prior this on day five of the ongoing quadrennial sport event, Ankita Raina had emulated Sania Mirza to become only the second Indian to win an Asian Games medal in women's singles tennis when she settled for the bronze after going down in fighting to Shuai Zhang of China.
