GUWAHATI: In order to promote the culture of Assam, the Himanta Biswa government of the state has now decided to follow in the footsteps of Yogi Adityanath. CM Himanta Sarma has decided that he will now change the names of places in the state which are against the tradition, culture and civilization of the state.
In his tweet, CM Sarma wrote, "There is a lot in the name. The name of every city, town, and village should reflect its culture, tradition, and civilization. We will launch the portal to invite suggestions on renaming places across Assam that are against our civilization, culture and are disrespectful to any caste, community at any time. ' CM Sarma said that the Assam government will change the names of places which are not associated with the culture and tradition of the state. He said that there are many places where the locals do not like that name. There are also some places where the name was kept due to malice. They have to change.
Earlier, Sarma had cited the example of Kalapahar. CM Sarma had said that Kalapahar had destroyed the Kamakhya temple. I don't see any reason why a city should be named Kalapahar. This name should be deleted after discussing with people. CM Sarma informed that Kalapahar was named after the dictator Muslim general of Bengal sultanate Kalapahar. He had attacked the famous Shaktipeeth Kamakhya temple.
