A drug peddler has been arrested by the Assam police in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh district. Police seized 17 grams of heroin from his possession. Acting on a tip, a team led by DSP (P) A. J. Borah launched an operation at Maijan area of Dibrugarh and nabbed one drug peddler with 17 grams of heroin from his possession. Dibrugarh additional superintendent of police (HQ) Padmanav Baruah said, “We have launched a crackdown against drugs in Dibrugarh and so far we have seized huge amount of contraband and arrested many drug peddlers from Dibrugarh district. Our crackdown against drugs will continue." The cases of drugs peddling, fake currency are increasing in the state. In another operation, Dibrugarh police arrested one Afjal Khan from Paltan Bazar area. and seized fake currency notes of Rs 21000. The accused has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.A case (no. 2206/20) under section 489(B)/489 (C)/ 34 of the IPC was registered at Dibrugarh police station.
